Keep Watering
They keep telling us it will rain … but then it doesn’t. Sorry, a passing storm provides no relief for your suffering landscape. So keep watering thoroughly, which is almost always more than you think. Aim the sprinkler at each area for at least one hour, once per week, to keep your trees, shrubs and perennials healthy. |

Thank you
I always feel thankful for my clients, without whom I could not have this wonderful career of creating and maintaining beautiful, workable outdoor spaces. But this year, I am especially appreciative.
Thank you for your patience during an extraordinarily challenging spring, when we spent much more time pruning due to winter damage; clearing tree and vine seedlings due to last year’s excessive rain; and watering clients’ properties, community gardens and stock plants due to this year’s uncommon heat and lack of rain. I can’t do this work without my terrific staff, and it has been critical to provide them with pacing and down time to recover from working in the intense heat and humidity. So, again, thank you to my clients for standing by us and waiting for us; and thank you to my employees for battling heat and exhaustion to meet our customers’ needs.

Grass Roots Update
This year, Grass Roots—our community gardening initiative to educate young people and beautify the Old York Road corridor—has planted a vegetable and herb garden on the grounds of the Abington Club in Jenkintown, providing opportunities to teach children at the Abington Club Kids Camp about gardening. The Wet Whistle, the Abington Club’s resident restaurant, purchases the produce as a local source of ingredients, with the revenue supporting Grass Roots projects. We’re now harvesting mint, parsley, cilantro and basil, while the vegetables are just beginning to fruit. Come take a look, or even lend a hand.
