So
many people want their landscape to provide a setting for
entertaining. Try these décor ideas to create the
space you need for uniquely stunning events:
-
Your central party area can be any distance from the house,
so long as you create a safe, comfortable means to travel
from one to the other. Make sure this path is wide and
safely lit so guests can mingle and you can ensure easy
replenishing of food and drink.
-
Typical pool decks and patios are not large enough for
entertaining. Anticipating overflow, place a temporary
flagstone patio on the lawn to protect the lawn and your
guests’ footwear.
-
Lighting is critical to your guests’ nighttime comfort.
Most is too bright, so switch to 25 watt bulbs to provide
beautiful illumination without unpleasant glare. If you
are still designing your landscape, ensure that appropriate
lighting is part of the overall plan.
-
Use landscape décor to decorate for your party,
inside and out. Flowering branches cut from your landscape
(even forced into flower out of season) make beautiful
centerpieces that reflect the setting.
-
An array of container plantings – beyond what you
already use – can create drama, with sculptural
use of tree and flower combinations. And the contents
can later be incorporated into your landscape, if you
choose. For example, we design these for clients’
events (inside and out), and provide them on a rental
or permanent basis.
