May 2008 Jenkintown based landscape design company celebrates 20th anniversary
Baker Creative, the award‑winning landscape design and installation company based in Jenkintown, recently celebrated its 20th anniversary on the grounds of The Abington Club in Jenkintown. The event focused on the combination of horticultural knowledge and inspired design that have allowed the company to flourish. Each guest was honored with a donation from Baker Creative to Linda Creed Breast Cancer Foundation.
"There's no rest for success," said co-owner and Vice President Dina Baker, the marketing mind behind the business. "We were an invited exhibitor at the Philadelphia Flower Show during the first official week of our season in March, and now we're hosting a major event in the middle of our busiest month of the year. Some might say we're crazy, but we like to think of it as being passionate and energized about our work." Baker Creative won a gold medal for design at the Flower Show, and this followed just a few weeks after receiving two gold and one silver Excellence in Landscape Design Awards from the Pennsylvania Landscape and Nursery Association for the company's work in 2007 making seven the total number of awards from PLNA since 2004, when Baker Creative first began submitting entries. "Gold and silver from PLNA and such high recognition at the Flower Show signify to me the pinnacle of landscape design in the Commonwealth," said Brad Baker, the company's president and co‑owner in this husband‑and‑wife led business. The event celebrated other local companies that Baker Creative credits with helping it to reach this milestone year, including Phase II Designs, architecture and interiors; Twist Communications, marketing; Lifestyle Magazine; Kim Sokoloff Photography; and The Abington Club, aquatics, fitness and golf.
